A Romantic Comedy by William Shakespeare
M&M Performing Arts Company’s comedic, chaotic and crazy rendition of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Lyndhurst Mansion was cut short by the Coronavirus crisis. But it was performed in repertory with a madcap mash-up of Shakespeare plays called, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) in the Grand Picture Gallery of Lyndhurst this past February and March.
Young lovers falling comically in and out of love and a blundering troupe of actors misadventures under the spell of mischievous fairies in a forest over the course of a magical night are featured in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. M&M’s production was set in Victorian dress to suit the Gothic Revival masterpiece it is performed in.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream featured Albert Baker, Rena Gavigan, Robyn Jareth, Kimberley Lentz-Bunkley, Jackie McKenna, Elizabeth Mialaret, Arley J. Morton, Eric Novak, Melinda O’Brien, Steve Plaushin, Catherine Saraceno, Gary Simon and Mikel Von Brodbeck.
Lyndhurst, a site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, is a Gothic Revival masterpiece on the banks of the Hudson River in Tarrytown, NY at 635 South Broadway (Route 9).
