A newspaper wrote at the time of Dickens’ readings, “He gave to every character a different voice, a different style, a different face.” Actor Gregg Shults endeavors to bring the same creative spirit to his own performance of this well-loved tale at the beautifully adorned historic Stone Church in Cragsmoor, NY..

GEORGE & RUTH: SONGS AND LETTERS OF THE SPANISH CIVIL WAR

M&M Theater Series presents a co-production with GoJo Clan Productions on Wednesday, November 29 at 7:00pm for a FREE performance at the The Camille Budarz Theater at the Ossining Public Library, 53 Croton Avenue Ossining, NY 10562 . Registration is not required.

A powerful, sometimes humorous but deeply moving look back at the prelude to WW II and the brave Americans who stepped up to fight fascism in Spain and at home, as reflected in the actual correspondence between volunteer George Watt and his newlywed wife, Ruth, each of whom devoted their lives to the fight against fascism and awakening the conscience of the world. A balladeer underscores the graphic letters with the international songs of the struggle.

The performances of INSIGNIFICANT, STRANGE BEDFELLOWS, VOICES & ECHOES and RICHARD III  have completed their runs.

M&M Performing Arts presented Red Monkey Theater Group’s RICHARD III, by William Shakespeare and directed by Amy Frey July and August 2023 in the Theater Series.

In RICHARD III, Shakespeare’s classic play, a ruthlessly ambitious man embarks on a merciless campaign of conquest, disinformation, assassination, seduction, and domination fueled by fantasies of absolute power.

M&M Performing Arts presented Red Monkey Theater Group’s INSIGNIFICANT, by Sean Michael Welch and directed by Rachel Tamarin from March to May 2023 in the Theater Series.

At Harvard University in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Cecilia Payne, Annie Jump Cannon, and the group of women known as the “Harvard Computers” overcame prejudice, denigration, and opposition to change the course of modern astronomy and developed revolutionary systems to chart and measure stars that remain in use today. INSIGNIFICANT charts their battles for recognition, respect, and equality are still being fought by women in the 21st century.

 

STRANGE BEDFELLOWS, two unlikely plays about unlikely relationships is a co-production with GoJo Clan Productions and was made up of Dream Lover and Duck Variations performed April and May 2023.

M&M Theater Series presents Red Monkey Theater Group’s pair of original short plays by authors Amy Frey and Sharon Latimer-Mosley. These one-acts will be presented together, and examine how the race, gender, class, and freedom in late 19th and early 20th century America still shape and inform modern sensibilities and struggles.

But when she finds herself in a confrontation with a “masher” (a man who assaults women on the street), she suddenly needs to come to grips with the realities of the world around her and is forced to ask for help from an unexpected quarter.
